Job Description
Purpose of the role:
This role is essential for driving the operational implementation of METRO’s ESG Management framework. It ensures the timely execution of key workstreams that safeguard ESG regulatory compliance. A core focus lies on the coordination and implementation of CSRD requirements, ongoing non-financial reporting, and the management of ESG ratings.
Functional responsibilities:
- Contribute to CSRD implementation/reporting at METRO by supporting major workstreams, including cooperation with internal and external partners
- Support ESG-related sections of the Annual Report, with focus on the Non-financial Statement/CSRD Report.
- Coordinate internal stakeholders and manage inputs for key ESG ratings (e.g., Carbon Disclosure Project & Sustainalytics) while supporting interactions with rating agencies.
- Monitor all core METRO ESG ratings—including unsolicited ones—and track updates, requirements, and improvement opportunities.
- Prepare analyses and recommendations to inform internal decisions on ESG rating strategies.
- Conduct ongoing ESG research, staying informed on regulatory changes, market expectations, and rating methodologies.
Qualifications
Your Profile:
- Advanced proficiency in PowerPoint with foundational Excel skills, capable of creating clear and impactful presentations.
- Sound track record in project management, supported by early professional exposure in ESG or controlling roles within corporate or consulting environments.
- Solid understanding of CSRD/ESRS regulatory standards, ESG reporting practices, and broader sustainability developments.
- Strong ability to connect cross-functional ESG topics, demonstrating ownership, initiative, and a proactive problem-solving mindset.
- Skilled in building effective internal and external networks and communicating ideas clearly, tailoring messages to different audiences.
- Holds a relevant Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (Economics, Sustainability, or similar) and is proficient in German and English.
