Job Description
Supply chain enabler, ensuring efficient and economically viable route-to-market solutions across countries, suppliers, and procurement. By driving feasibility analyses, transport benchmarks, and pricing, the role supports informed decision-making and the successful introduction and scaling of assortments. The position enables end-to-end alignment between Procurement, Supply Chain, suppliers, and Metro Countries, ensuring stable supply flows, performance transparency, and adherence to defined targets. Through analytical problem-solving, proactive stakeholder collaboration, and continuous improvement, the role contributes to operational excellence, service reliability, and sustainable business growth
- Within the area of international flow management,
- calculation of route-to-market / feasibility studies,
- transport benchmarks for all direct shipment projects,
- decision / recommendation on RTM,
- customer price calculation for articles going via the RDC,
- coordination of MIS processes for start-up phase new assortment,
- focus on continuous improvement,
- Develop concepts or initiate and align with commercial Team to achieve certain targets, i.e. growth, brand change, new assortments as well as initiating of changes.
- For more complex problems (i.e. dangerous goods or complete new category i.e. Fresh), an analytical approach is required to prepare the decision making process / lay down the foundation to get the approval for developing solutions.
- Further fine-tune the existing approach for feasibility, solutions / concepts within the process of flow management, e.g. System Approach as well as Route-to-Market / Feasibility study.
- Coordinating / Guiding / Collaborating with commercial departments (Food and Non-Food) as well as countries, projects with internal and/or external partners in relation to supply chain matters.
- Acting within defined targets. Such targets can typically be achieved in the framework of the international flow management, but should not be restricted towards the defined targets. Free to develop, propose and once aligned implement changes.
- Supplier collaboration within international flow management, incl. alignment on supply flows and requirements
- Monitoring and steering supplier performance (e.g. OTIF, lead times), incl. corrective actions and escalations
- Coordination of penalties, where contractually applicable, in alignment with Commercial and SCM
Qualifications
- Knowledge in operational expert areas and a deep understanding of the diverse but relevant processes in the route to market / feasibility calculations, as well as in specific categories (i.e. Frozen, Fresh, Spirits, …).
- Subject-specific market, industry and METRO knowledge in the defined/assigned categories (i.e. frozen category), based on an academic degree and 4+ years of work experience in the respective field.
- In-depth knowledge in expert areas and comprehensive knowing and understanding of elements and context of Supply Chain and International Trading as well as the common sourcing value chain.
- Able to communicate in a structured and concise way as well as being able to implement / follow change management in a strict way but make use of common sense and analytical skills. Customer focused / driven with a cost conscious mind.
- Excellent in English language skills as well as fluent in German or any other European Language which contribute towards our customer portfolio.
- Strong connection and networking in Metro.
- Attentive to detail and structure personality. Strong analytical thinking and showing initiatives towards new projects.
