    Job Description

    METRO’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Strategy is the key driver to realize sustainable business approaches throughout the whole organization. The closer to our business, the easier to understand, the better we take everyone with us on this journey. At the same time, transparency about the ESG strategy and management of related issues and respective data is a key driver for trusted stakeholder relations – from investors over banks to authorities and supply chain partners.  

    As ESG Reporting Manager (m/f/d) you will be responsible to realize our obligations in terms of non-financial reporting in the context of increasing demands that come along with the provisions of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive and respective reporting standards.

    In this context, your responsibilities will include :

    • Keeping track of new reporting standards and formulation of respective non-financial KPIs together with concerned departments.
    • Maintenance and further set up of respective reporting structures and processes together with concerned departments.
    • Further implementation of internal controls according to CSRD requirements.
    • Lead for non-financial reporting in the Annual Report, incl. being the major contact for reporting entities within METRO as well as for external auditor.
    • Co-Steering with Corporate Controlling of EU Taxonomy reporting; ESG Ratings (as e.g. Sustainalytics, MSCI, CDP): Steering and coordinating cross-functional METRO input and being liaison for rating agencies.

    Qualifications

    • Completed university degree in business administration or similar
    • 3+ years of experience in ESG Management and Advisory with a proven track record of running and steering ESG reporting either within a corporate environment or as a consultant.
    • Sound understanding of wholesale operations, supporting implementation of ESG management together with business functions coupled with understanding of corporate processes.  
    • Motivation for sustainability management and respective business transformation 
    • Advanced communication skills engaging a diversity of stakeholders 
    • Strategic mindset and conceptual skill-set. High solution-orientation and pragmatic way of thinking. 
    • Ability to inspire and collboration skills with an interest in the diverse needs of stakeholders to be addressed for aligning effective ways of management  
    • Independent way of working with high commitment
    • Capability to steer topics forward even in difficult situations. 
    • Experiences in managing and developing a team.
    • Fluency in English and German is as must-have.

    Please note that all job opportunities at METRO AG require that you live in/move to Germany and can be in office in Düsseldorf at least 2 times per week. We don't offer 100% remote opportunities.
